William Marston House
Pictured: This is the William Marston House built by Benjamin Marston.
History: This house was built in 1780 and was occupied by Dr. James Haydn Higgins at the time of this photograph.
This property is listed on the National Register Of Historic Places.
Today: Except for minor renovations, these buildings and the property remain essentially the same at 71 Route 149.
From 1985 to 2000 this was the location of the Inn At The Mills, operated by Bill Henry and Peter Erceg.
During that period over 250 wedding receptions took place on the lawn seen in the center of this photograph.
Source: This photo is from a postcard which was untitled, postally unused and undated.
An annotation on the back says: "Higgins Homestead looking over the Mill Pond - Marstons Mills. Bldgs at left are dark red,
chimney natural stones. Bldgs on right, most prominent one is buff with green blinds. The others unpainted with white trimmings."
